Final Thoughts on a Twitter PLN

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well especially during these trying times. I wanted to talk a little bit about my overall experience using Twitter as a PLN. Using social media is something that we all partake in, in one form or another. One of the biggest benefits that the internet provides us is the opportunity to connect with other educators and their experiences. Throughout the semester I found myself follow a few Twitter accounts that posted a lot of unique concepts to introduce to classrooms.

Here is a list of a few of those accounts that I found very informational and inspiring.

Dr. Erik Youngman - https://twitter.com/Erik_Youngman

Matt Townsley - https://twitter.com/mctownsley

Wallace Ting - https://twitter.com/TingWallace

Dr. Rick Snoeyink (of course) - https://twitter.com/rsnoeyink

Kyle Bragg - https://twitter.com/ElemPE1

These are only a handful of accounts that I found beneficial to my growth as a future educator. Twitter has allowed me to expand my knowledge for different activities that can be performed or taught to students. Going into the Physical Education field of teaching I am always looking for new ideas to be able to make lesson plans fun and enjoyable, while also adding the rememberability factor to the lesson. The whole goal is to make sure that our students can take in the lesson plan and benefit from it. Twitter has allowed me to discover theses new lesson plans while also connecting with people that I would probably never meet otherwise.

Overall, I think Twitter is a very useful and important PLN that educators can adapt into their growth as a teacher. When I first started my Education based Twitter account I was a little skeptical. I assumed going into it that it was just going to be another responsibility that I would have to add on top of everything else going on this semester. However, I found that I enjoyed using this PLN. I found it very unique and even fun to post my thoughts pertaining to education and being able to interact with other educators all over the country and even all over the world. Technology is always advancing and becoming more prevalent in todays society and instead of shunning it and avoiding it I think that we should find ways to incorporate it in a way that can benefit our students and also expand our experiences in the field of education. Despite all the hardships we faced this semester, I really enjoyed our class and I am grateful for all that I have learned and grown from. Until next time, God bless, and have a great day!
